Phnom Penh – Experts say that land trading activity around Phnom Penh, especially in the outskirts, has not come to a complete halt.
Ms. Tang Hour, Director General of Amatak Property Service, said late last week that although the market has not fully recovered, land trading activity remains, especially in areas surrounding the capital. Investors and buyers continue to focus on land with good locations and prices below the market rate.
She added, “Those with purchasing power are still waiting for land at good prices and with flexible negotiation conditions.” She continued, “People with money are still collecting quality assets, as this is a good time to invest.” Ms. Tang Hour also mentioned that land buying, selling, and development by large companies remains active and is gradually picking up momentum.
At the same time, Oknha Nuon Rithy, Director General of KFA, also stated that land trading activity continues, especially in the areas surrounding the new Techo International Airport. Many are showing interest due to the planned development of enterprises, factories, residential zones, special economic zones, and industrial areas expected to expand into that region. This development will be supported by its connection to the new airport and the under-construction Funan Techo Canal.
He continued, “We have seen over the past two years that Prime Minister Hun Manet has been implementing deep reforms and engaging both the public and private sectors in meaningful collaboration to attract international investors to Cambodia.” Oknha Nuon Rithy further added that in the private sector, Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Chamber of Commerce, representing the government’s private sector, has been working hard to attract international investment. He has also pushed for incentives and coordination mechanisms to support the government in developing the country.
According to Oknha Nuon Rithy, the government’s policies and the private sector’s efforts have contributed to Cambodia’s economic growth. He believes the real estate sector will continue to expand further in the future.
